A rainy, rainy day August 30, 2005

Hurricane Katrina has been downgraded to a tropical storm, but now she is hitting southern Indiana. It has rained, and RAINED all night and all day and will continue into the night. I heard predictions of at least 3 inches of rain... that's quite a bit. This morning, there was a parents meeting at Hannah's new school, so I went (in the rain). Pete graciously offered to watch both kids, so I didn't have to take Eli out in the storm. I met Hannah's new teacher, Ms Michelle. She is a cute, blonde UE graduate :) I'm sure Hannah will adore her. Tomorrow is our conference where Hannah will meet her for the first time. I'm a little disappointed that school this year will only be 2 hours long, 2 days a week. Oh well, I guess I was just spoiled by last year's preschool.Hannah is currently playing with play-doh, and a bit ticked that I will only let her get out one color at a time... BUT I saw what happend when Pete let her have a free-for-all with the colors. I'm sure you can imagine. Earlier today she was having a reading fest. The bookcase is in shambles, but she was actually looking at books by herself for a while, so I certainly can't complain too much! Eli is napping. I really can't believe how we've lucked out with his temperament. He's content to play on the floor for 20 min stretches a few times a day. His day has been like this, wake up, eat, nap, eat, play, eat, awake in mom's arms, eat, nap, etc. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that he weighs 15 lbs :)I got to start the new Harry Potter book last night! I had to buy it because there's no way I could read it fast enough to check it out from the library. Two and a half chapters in, and I'm interested! Tonight I have to write some more thank you cards for gifts sent to Eli... not my favorite task. Hopefully, the kids will get to sleep a bit early, so I can write my thank yous and still have some time to READ (it's been a while since I've had a chance to actually read a book!).
